ParticipantAs I was searching the Internet, I came across a comment on another website about a doctor’s choice of febuxostat (Uloric) over allopurinol. As this is very relevant, I’ve copied it here:
phusa ram says:
April 2, 2014 at 9:07 amMe at 65 ,non diabetic, gouty, UA above 7 mg/DL ,used fuboxtat 40 ,since one last year, recently ,my test read 6.22 ,and gp advised to stop fuboxtat ,two weeks later ,flare up ( mild) in 1st smaller toe reappeared ,I ,a follower of gout pal forum ,knew about allupurinol , so ,since last 2 days ,am on allupurinol 100 MD for next 6 moths ,
Am I wrong or right ,kindly advise ?I’m not sure why the commenter didn’t ask here. Maybe there are difficulties posting here that I don’t know about? If so, please let me know. Since this question about febuxostat or allopurinol was first posted, I have removed all restrictions on posting here. You do not have to login before you post, though you lose a lot of features if you don’t login.
I can see a lot wrong with the doctor’s approach in this case. I’ll add my thoughts soon, but what do you think?
